"Memories aren't rags that come clean with enough ringing."

Books:

I have been in a non-reading funk lately but recently I splurged at B&N and then at Half Price Books when Alicia was in town on some light reading material.

When you enter B&N on the Plaza the first thing you are assaulted with is some counter gal trying to sell you on their whimsical new paperback-killing device, the Nook. Now I've played around on Alicia's Kindle a few times but it's not the same as having a dirty secondhand paperback in your fingers. Plus it wont stop me from reading when the batteries fail. Another thing is that new paper smell...

Can't get this face from an e-reader.

Great part in this comic that I feel relates to me very, very well.

Anyways, Koontz's works can hardly be put down after starting them. Nothing changed with this one but I felt a little cheated on the length of this piece. See Book Four of the Frankenstein series was suppose to be the start of a new trilogy but according the cover of Book Five: The Dead Town, it is FINAL Chapter.

What the....

I went back and looked at the first two books in the series and according to them these last two books in this saga(PART 3&4) are falling a little over a hundred pages short each. I know I'm whining but come on.....I read this shit in two days and the story spanned what, less than three days as well. Enough setup time just to keep me with bated breath till I can pick up The Dead Town.

Maybe I'm just antsy for word on a new Odd Thomas novel.

I put on my daily facade but then....

Settling down for once. Kinda odd not having shit planned for a vacation which is fine. Not really, I wanted to go to Disney World bad and I mean bad. The kind of bad that keeps you from falling asleep the way you intended to. The kind of bad that calls you at 2 in the morning and tells you you're going to be a father. The kind of bad that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever as you sit writing your shit listening to those good memories through duct taped headphones. The memories that you tell yourself over and over 'it'll happen again'. Just not anytime soon.

Therapy?

How old am I?! Finally, I have my name solely on a lease. Things have happened so fast these past two weeks. Faster than Lady Gaga tickets selling out at the Sprint Center.(just checked;still available. Pre-Party disco tickets...this woman just might be onto something.) OK, enough with the similes, metaphors and other English figure of speech I have but a fourth graders grasp on.

Maybe?

====================
Entertain me:

Sunday, The Legally Prohibited tour rolled into town at the Midland and destroyed the place. Destroyed it the best a comedy tour could. The opener, Reggie Watts, was kinda gay. I swear he had only like four skits, but that shit lasted almost an hour. Whatever, maybe I should watch some youtube of the guy. Drug jokes just aren't the cat's meow for me. Lighten up? Here, let me punch you square in the throat. As for Conan, some of my highlights were the Masturbating Bear transforming into the Self Pleasuring Panda. The Triumph sketch with obviously someone filling in the blanks to his speech with iconic Kansas City landmark's such as Boulevard Wheat, SW Boulevard, Gates and others. Conan making fun of the Nelson Art Gallery and the Shady Lady. Jason Sudeikis from SNL coming out and helping pull the Chuck Norris Rural Policeman Handle. Oh yeah, they also had one of Meatloaf's giant ass inflatable bats from his Bat out of Hell tours. Can't wait to see the shenanigans he'll bring to TBS. Good night indeed. Finished it off with some Chubby's on Broadway.

Best piece of merch I bought that night.

I wear it on my right arm so I naturally like to stare at it as I......"I was compelled to believe in this motorized, bullshit, sick fucking deal to possess and caress and obsess in the need for appeal"

Family is key. Remember that. Especially when your sister is about to get a 4.0 this semester and you need her to succeed in case shit hits the fan later down the road. ;)

One thing I love about my new location is that it is two blocks from Half Price Books. I went yesterday and had to stop myself from blowing the bank on paperbacks.

Lifted up

Duma Key: because I love it when King makes me cry.

Cell : because a zombie apocalypse spread via your narcissistic cellphone use;brilliant

Your Heart Belongs to Me: because Koontz never fails.

MOLESTACHE IN ACTION

You love the way,I look at you

While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through

It's the glare from the reflection
Making patterns in your eyes

It's the looking back in anger

With every second slipping by

Undertow has come to take me

Guided by the blazing sun

Look at everything around us

Well, look at everything we've done

BOOKS!

Yes, finished the last of the four Odd Thomas books by Dean Koontz. What a rush. Who needs cocaine or oxycodone when you can stay up all night reading about an unusual young man who can see the dead.

"I see dead people. But then, by god, I do something about it." - Odd Thomas

Had to rush to my local bookstore to pick up the graphic novel IN ODD WE TRUST, that is a prequel to the first Odd Thomas novel. Can't wait to sink my teeth(eyes) into that Prime Grade meat(book)

Also got the last in the trilogy to Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series, Dead and Alive. Just how will Deucalion destroy Helios if he's been conditioned to not harm his creator. The questions mount.

Not so fast though, need to finish the third Splinter Cell book CHECKMATE, that I started yesterday.

Before finishing the day, had to stop by Half Price books, not much going on there today. Purchased the second book in the AREA 51 series.

Big whoop.

Actually went out today to take advantage of the tax free weekend this state offers to buy a net book. You know something to watch movies when I want to be a lazy fuck and not want to get out of bed. Take on the road, read ebooks and manga on. At wallmart they had a table with about 4 or 5 on display. One had Michael Jackson videos playing on it. This was early in the morning and the place was dead so you could hear it all the way in the check out lanes. One of my most pleasant trips to the super center.

I wanted this Dell mini 10, but got discouraged. Oh well, another time.

Plans to see NIN in September are in the can. Just the waiting game now.
